DEAR PUBLISHERS AND EXHIBITORS
I would like to invite you to the 18th Catholic Publishers Fair that will take place on April 20-22,2012. As before, the Fair will be held inWarsaw, in Kubicki Arcades of theRoyalCastle(Plac Zamkowy 4, 00-277Warsaw). Kubicki Arcades, located in the historic center of the capital, is a place where many expositions, fairs and cultural events take place. The former edition of our Fair as well as other projects (Historical Book Fair) proved it to be a good place for our continuously developing event. Our aim is that the Fair responds to the expectations of the community, being a colorful, multithreaded event attracting attention of a wide public.
This year’s Fair will be held in the traditional moment: before the Second Sunday after Easter. With our Fair – a feast of good books – we want to contribute to the realization of the motto of the pastoral year 2011/2012 “the Church of our home”, “which talks about making the Christians feel more like home in the the Church and about Church being more like home.” The year 2012 is also the Year of the New Evangelization: Cardinal Kazimierz Nycz, speaking of the Poles’ concerns about the future, emphasizes that “the origin of all kind of crisis is the spiritual crisis in human life. If we are told about different threats, we should hold fast to Jesus Christ, who is with us and wants to help us. If there are powers appearing that are unfair to the Church, to the Gospel, we must ask ourselves if this is not a dramatic call for a new evangelization? Is this not a sign of our insufficient testimony of God, of Jesus Christ and His Gospel? Our task for this beginning year is the New Evangelization.” Let therefore our meeting with the Gospel message through the written, printed, listened word be our involvement in the New Evangelization.
The authors meeting rooms will be located in theRoyalCastle’s neighborhood. More details concerning the rooms and the meetings will be available in the following bulletin. We presume that the event’s trading formula will be enriched with numerous promotional and authors meetings. These events will determine mostly the perception of the 18h Fair by the media and the audience, and in consequence will encourage the latter to visit the Fair stands.
I also invite and encourage the Publishers to submit their books published in 2011 to the 14th edition of the Catholic Publishers’ Association Award FENIKS 2012. The relevant materials have been sent to you via email. All application forms and information on the award are currently available at our website www.swk.pl.
Please send the materials and applications up to 16 March 2012 (the date on the post stamp is relevant). You are asked to read the “Rules and Conditions of Participation”, where some new articles have been added, and familiarize your stand staff with these regulations. That will help us run the Fair more smoothly.
I send my best regards and look forward to seeing you all in April at the 18th Catholic Publishers Fair.
